这尊造像通常被认为是弥勒菩萨，表现了一位身型修长、形象年轻的菩萨。他双目半闭，面带微笑，意在传达出内省超脱与慈悲之情。其衣袍以一系列程式化的褶裥垂落至地面，这是龙门北魏洞窟佛教造像风格的典型特征。肩上披有一条飘带，飘带两端的绶带在腰际下方穿过一枚环扣。宝冠顶部向外展开，进一步衬托出身形的修长，并使整个造像呈现出6世纪早期典型的三角形构图。

This image, usually identified as the bodhisattva Maitreya, is depicted as a slender and youthful figure. His half-closed eyes and gentle smile are meant to suggest withdrawal and compassion. Typical of the style found in the Northern Wei Buddhist caves at Longmen, his garment cascades to the floor in a series of stylized folds. On his shoulders is a scarf with ribbon ends crossing through a ring below his waist. His crown flares at the top, which further accentuates the slenderness of his body and gives the whole figure the triangular composition typical of the early 500s.

馆藏的交脚弥勒戴高冠，以高挑的细眉，眯缝的笑眼和神秘的抿唇微笑为面相。身躯清瘦颀长，帔帛盖双肩在腹下相交于一圆形璧饰。菩萨左手下垂，握住左侧帔帛，右手作无畏印。衣裙轻薄贴体，衣纹刻画交叠重复，线条对称流畅。法国巴黎吉美博物馆藏有一尊带纪年的石灰岩弥勒造像（公元509年），神态、气韵均相似，亦可作为这尊像的时代借鉴。
