Seated crowned Buddha with four scenes of his life

The central image here represents the Buddha defeating the demon Mara by touching the earth, calling upon her to affirm his fitness for buddhahood. The earth goddess is shown in miniature at the middle of the base beneath the lotus throne. Other scenes from the life of the Buddha surround the central one. Originally there would have been eight, but here the top three are missing. How they were broken off is not known to us. Those remaining show:

• (lower left) the mother of the Buddha-to-be giving birth

• (upper left) the Buddha’s descent from Indra’s heaven after the Buddha had preached to his deceased mother

• (upper right) the Buddha taming an enraged elephant

• (lower right) the Buddha accepting an offering from a monkey.

宝冠佛像及佛传四相图

此尊佛像为中央主尊，呈现触地印相，象征佛陀召唤地神见证其降伏魔罗、证得佛果的瞬间。莲座下方台基中央以微缩形式表现地神涌现的形象。

主尊周围环绕佛传故事场景。原应具备八相图，惜顶部三幅现已缺失，残损原因不详。现存四幅分别为：

左下：摩耶夫人生下菩萨（佛陀诞生）

左上：佛陀为母说法后自忉利天下降

右上：佛陀调伏醉象

右下：佛陀接受猿猴供蜜
